Though they are unrelated, I'm going to just put them all together. First: has anyone considered that Respect might be a pun on the cover painting? I mean the two eyes which figure so prominently in it. Breaking down Respect into "Re" meaning again or two and "spect" refering to sight (as in spectacles). Second: found another 12" with another b-side. The "If You Were A Priest" 12" has the b-sides Tell Me About Your Drugs, The Crawling (I know, I know, I have the cd of Element of Light so I already have those two), and The Can Opener. The last one is the interesting one. Does anyone else have that track? If so, can you tell me who the voices belong to? For those of you who don't have it, The Can Opener is an epic poem about a vicious Can Opener who prowls the seas opening ships (ala 20k leagues under the sea). It was chanted by a bunch of men in turn with cockney accents. Third: Have here a compilation called Always the Bridesmaid. It's got Arms of Love on it, with the intro edited short (nothing new, really). However the cover art is signed by Hitchcock and there is a poem inside by him (his distinctive handwriting and signature again). The poem is as follows: Always the bridesmaid Crawling with stress I'm waiting around in my Silly red dress She married a donkey He's wed to a goat They're not to demanding And neiter can vote I'd vote for a husband All covered with shells Whose fingers go through me Like silvery bells But people are messy They groan in their beds It costs you a fortune Pronouncing them dead And what if you live with Someone all your life And suddenly you are Cut off by a knife? There's half of you missing When they disappear Your wires are trailing Off into thin air Always the bridesmaid I'm clutching my flowers They wither like me Through the emptying hours The groom is a pig And he breathes on her hair I don't think I feel any Jealousy there Confetti is dust As I wait on the shelf At least I don't answer For anyone else Fourth: Anyone who would like to trade boots with me is greatly encouraged to e-mail me. I, alas have only a couple, and probably ones that have already made the rounds. If any of you are feeling altruistic, you could just give me copies of your boots. I'd be happy to pay for shipping and the tapes, of course. Likewise, if we have some new fans who are interested, my collection is open (that is, I would be happy to make copies even if you have nothing to trade). I will type in my collection and send it to anyone who asks. -Michael
